Retro Longboards

7’ - 7’6” THE “FATBOY”. A true all round surfboard. Initially made as a shortboard for longboard riders, this model has blossomed into a board for many surfers and conditions. It is still popular as it was intended for the longboarder to lash out on like a modern shortboard but maintain the paddle-ability. This model is produced form the same blanks we use for guns of the same length and can be surfed in big waves with great success due to the proven bottom curve. The plan shape, with the extra nose width, gives the board forward drive in small waves and works well for stability in a first timers learning board. This model holds it’s value because it has so many applications and is always in demand. Our biggest selling model and an original design. The other manufactures have started to copy the FATBOY but Mark Rabbidge’s is the original and the best.

6’6”-7’ THE FATBOY FISH Derived from the outstanding success of the “Fatboy” the FATBOY FISH is a blown up version of the shortboarders fun fish. They suit longboarders who want to cut some serious corners and still have the paddle power in the line up for bigger surfers who have a loose and reactive fast surfboard. Often bought as a second board but very often reported that they get ridden 90% of the time after that first session. A full planshape with swallow tail gives this design plenty to fly over the water in less than perfect conditions. Tri fin set up either all uniform size or smaller trailing fin is most popular. Have made bigger versions up to 7’6” but goes best at 6’8” or 7’ mark. Really popular last summer.

8’ THE 8’ MINI MAL. The eight foot model is for the surfer who likes a bit of both. You can ride it in the longboard style with the emphasis on trimming and nose riding BUT you can still do modern manoeuvres and turn where you want. The length is great for paddling and catching waves but doesn’t carry the extra weight burden of the nine footer. A good choice for surfers who prefer turning more than nose riding but think like a longboarder and want to do it all. Also good for a beginner who is older, less agile or too physically big for a FATBOY. Can be tri-fin or Retro single fin with FCS/O’FISH’L side fins.

9’ MALIBU. The true longboard. This model can be hotted up or toned down to the riders needs. Designed for high speed nose rides with forgiving adjustments on the wave face. You can step back to adjust and the board will lift again to make sections. Anyone can get up to the nose but getting there, getting back and making the wave is where it is at. Fast means power to spare so big cutbacks and re-entries are no problem on this model. Designed through years of experience on the World ASP Longboard Tour at many different breaks. Very user friendly. Good all round longboard for use at beach breaks and point breaks. Choice of Retro template fins to suit each design.

9’6” MALIBU. A more traditional feel is apparent in this model. Greater glide and momentum comes with the length but with modern materials comes a more responsive product. Fantastic for long point breaks and stylish surfing. Also very popular at club level and for social surfing. Single Fin.

10’ THE TEN. For serious momentum and section traversing at point breaks. Beautiful glide but surprisingly , once the speed and momentum is attained, the board is as manoeuvre-able as a nine-footer. Top of the pecking order at the peak. Every longboarder should own a ten footer at least once in their lifetime.
